The massive genotyping data applied to genetic trials derived from existing projects and initiatives allow to improve phenotypic information by:
– Obtaining molecular pedigree to improve the estimation of genetic parameters both in progeny tests, and in provenance trials. In the latter, it is the only tool available to obtain these estimates.
– Study of characters subject to selection, by comparison with neutral expectations.
– Mapping of association in forest species from these common environment tests. These methods can be applied to characters with lower heritability, and in species without advanced tree breeding programs (as usual in Spain)
The available resources that can be used for the species included in GENFORED network can be accessed in the table.
